’The Stroke That Kills’ (1993, version for electric guitars, 2000) Original written for a classical guitar trio, ‘The Stroke That Kills’ begins with the traditional 3-,4-, and 5-strokes of flamenco music placed on top of each other. This thick texture serves as a springboard for a music of cross-accents and, later, (natural) phasing effects in three layers. This piece was written for the Amsterdam Guitar Trio and reworked by Seth Josel into its present form for one live and two pre-recorded electric guitars.
